Didier Deschamps, a natural team leader.
Didier Deschamps was trained at FC NANTES and started as a professional at the age of 16 in 1985. In a few years, Deschamps established himself and became captain of the canaries.
In 1989, Deschamps joined Olympique de Marseille. After a complicated season and a loan to Bordeaux, he impressed and became captain again. He won two Championships and especially a Champions League in 1993.
In 1994, Deschamps was transferred to Juventus of Turin, he became a complete midfielder and won three Italian championships and two Champions Leagues. In the summer of 1999, Deschamps joined Chelsea before leaving to end his career in Valencia in 2000.
In 1989, Deschamps was selected for the first time with the France team. Until his international retirement in 2000, Deschamps had 103 caps, including 54 as captain.
He is the only player with Franz Beckenbauer to have won the World Cup, the Euros and the Champions League as captain.
Deschamps' retraining as a coach began in Monaco in 2001 where he led the Monegasques to the Champions League final in 2004. He then left in 2006 to bring Juventus up to Serie A. He returned to Ligue 1 in 2009 with the OM and won the championship in 2010.
It was when he became coach of the France team in 2012 that he experienced his greatest success. After good performances at the 2014 World Cup, a place as a finalist at Euro 2016. He postponed the 2018 World Cup as well as the 2021 Nations League and finished second in the 2022 World Cup.
