DRAKE RAMBERG, The man behind the 1990s Nike jerseys.

Drake Ramberg is an American graphic designer working for Nike. During the 1990s, he worked in the design of football shirts and equipment for the biggest European clubs and some national teams.

Today, several of his jerseys are iconic such as the jerseys of Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint Germain, PSV Eindhoven, Olympique Lyonnais, Italy or Nigeria.

In 1990, Drake Ramberg is assigned a two-year mission, which will last 6 years, and that he obliges him to go to Europe. His mission was to design the design of the jerseys of several clubs sponsored by Nike. A daunting task for Drake or, in the early 1990s, Nike were just getting started in the world of international football.

For concept ideas, Ramberg was inspired by the streets and symbols of cities. He also went to the different stadiums to chat with the players and supporters.

Ramberg wants to bring American culture to football shirts. Team nicknames are added as is done a lot with American sports teams. For example, we find "Gunners" on Arsenal shirts.

Drake Ramberg still works at Nike. By closing the circle, he helps as director of operations the development of the football range at Nike.
